not tired. i just can't sleep. i close my eyes but the dreams dont come. instead of visions appearing like projections on my eyelids, darkness washes over me, a wave of nothingness, but my ears still catch the buzzing of the fan and time still crawls like a snail in spring. perhaps im nocturnal. maybe i should sleep during the day and stay awake at night, an owl in human form. my eyes squeeze tight but sleep won't take me. still i stay awake staring at a ceiling the same sight until the family wakes in the morning. i should sleep or i won't get through the day, but i cant sleep so i wont sleep. when the sea of sleep finally drifts me away, i
